Summer Swimsuit Trends

The best season has finally saved us all from what seems like an eternity of living inside. Hello Summer! Considering the current circumstance our world is in, I have a feeling we will be living in either loungewear (the summer version consisting of oversized t-shirts & biker shorts) or swimsuits and coverups. To be completely honest, this is what I usually live in during the summer anyway. I’m here to share with you what swimsuits to look forward to buying this summer because after all, let’s treat ourselves to looking cute in the sun!

TIE DYE

This one shouldn’t come to a complete shock because of how much this trend blew up during quarantine. I am guilty of doing some of my own DIY tie dye that actually turned out to be one of my highlights of quarantine. Your DIY oversized t-shirts can now double as a cute coverup as well. Ultimately, the trend is showing up literally everywhere—bathing suits included. I think this is the perfect way to incorporate colors into this summer’s look. Check out some suits I found! BRALETTE STYLE

This one is for all the girly-girls out there—good news for all of you, this strong appearance of girly chic within fashion has been and will be huge for this summer. Mostly seen through big, puffy sleeves, bralette-styled stops, florals, eyelets, and ruffles, the trend continues in swim through bralette shaped/unwire tops. This is one I’m super excited for because I believe it looks flattering on all body types. Pair these tops with a high leg or high rise bottom to complete your swimsuit look!!

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS

It’s all in the detail this summer, even being something as small as an extra knot, hoop, or belt incorporated in a suit. It’s a great way to elevate your swimsuit game if you don’t feel like trying something completely outside of your comfort zone. I love the belt idea when wearing a one-piece so that it can really elevate your curve! Luckily these details come in a variety of options so picking out a suit with one of these features this summer should be easy to attain. All that matters with this trend is that you’re having fun and mixing up your style!

RETRO VIBES

The 80’s took a major step forward for swimsuit trends by introducing high leg cuts to accentuate curves, bolder and brighter prints, and scoop necks. All moving toward a more modern feature of women in society by exemplifying and glorifying the female physique. This didn’t stop in the 90’s either, taking strides to make swimwear bolder than ever before. These two sensational decades keep reappearing in the decades to follow, including today, because of their everlasting effect of female empowerment for the future. The high leg cuts, string bikinis, and boldness are reinvigorated today through some of the following suits. Vintage is always a good idea, just make sure to make it your own as well!

Swimsuit season can be intimidating, especially after months of sitting around. Don’t hold yourself back because of this—it’s time to own swimsuit season! Wear what you feel confident and comfortable with this season 🙂
